I really have no idea why anyone is extrapolating results from a D primary in New York City to a general election in the U.S. electoral college.
In addition to the basic error of over-extrapolation--which is objective--I'll add that I feel we spent the last 6 months dissecting the 2024 election and, while some issues are contested, progressivism was weaponized against Dems, maybe effectively.
I’d really hold out on making big leaps about it and I think that’s all I’m saying about it for a bit.
Oh, and the one candidate was a known sex pest.
But that shouldn’t be a huge lift for the people running against him. Yet it still was because he came in 2nd.
And please don’t @ me about “establishment Dems.” They mostly called on Cuomo to resign in the first place.

@hankg @TonyStark Not a bunch. A few. And a President in office saying it (with other current officeholders if you’d opened the article) is a lot bigger than a guy who hasn’t been in office in decades.
@TonyStark @hankg It’s not a major event that the Democratic Party supports a guy who won a Democratic primary. Y’all need to calm down.
@TonyStark @hankg Where was this energy for literally any woman that’s won a primary this year? This one man and woo people losing their marbles.
@Heimdall @hankg Lauren Underwood has passed over a dozen pieces of legislation since 2019.
Abigail Spanberger can win in VA, and Mikie Sherrill in NJ. Great candidates.
I think it’s fair to ask why there’s little excitement for those victories when it takes different candidates to win in different places. I’d also say Underwood, Spanberger, and Sherrill are more likely indicative of the direction of the party than the NYC mayor who’s indicative of the direction of NYC.
I hope they all win.
@TonyStark @Heimdall @hankg The candidate has to match the district. The candidate who can win in NYC is not going to be the candidate who can win nationwide or in a midwestern congressional district. And even NYC has weird swings. This election (assuming he winds the general) a Democratic Socialist. Last time, Eric Adams, an embarrassment to Democrats. 25 years ago, Giuliani was mayor. And Bill de Blasio in between.
@TonyStark You're being too generous. @MariaHill @Heimdall @hankg
