Pretty neat dissertation format, I'm not going to comment on the value of presenting qualitative studies like this as science beyond saying that diverse approaches like this represents would seem to be a nice way to draw more people into fields like cultural ecology which I guess this would fall under.

I've seen supplements to dissertations of songs and poems and such. I'm not sure if this student's degree is in the humanities or science.
My scholarly exposure has most likely prejudiced me towards rigorous research-based dissertations, but as long as they don't pretend that a dissertation in cartoon format is presenting defensible scientific research like I said it is neat and I guess fine.
