Seems logical, however its a dangerous case of "poking the bear".
Try "expelling" and the US will dig in and claim National Security Concerns and use the effort as a catalyst and excuse to expel Denmark and keep the airbase in place. Its giving trump a perfect excuse to take Greenland... something he totally lacks at the present.
