It's happened again, I was on yet another AI (for Teachers) webinar.
I come in thinking "I'm going to be the critical voice, someone needs to say something".
By the end, I've signed up to, like three new platforms.
@MrBerard Have you seen Writable from HMH? Best use of AI I've ever seen in the education space, and I'm not just saying that as a trainer for the platform. @edutooters
@MrBerard 😂 I wish I'd had it when I was in the classroom. @edutooters
@MrBerard I'd really like to rebuild the system from the bottom up starting with K-3. @edutooters
Don't we all. That's the problem: both views are valid.
In the short term, local context, you want an AI tool, of course, whether you're a teacher, parent, student, policymaker....no brainer.
In the long term, national/global scope, you want a broader systemic reform, which the adoption of AI tools disincentives further.
This is what tears my heart apart.
@AlliFlowers @edutooters
Me too, but actually if I stop to think about it, I wish I had a properly funded school system where there'd be enough humans to not need Writable (ok, TBF, they'd have to have a TA everywhere they bring a laptop).
Which would cost less than what's being invested in such systems. And create jobs, build communities and relationships.
