Yesterday while I was up hanging onto the torah after my aliyah a couple of thoughts ran through my head.
One was just that there were literally a gaggle of us up there and I was starting to run through the beginnings of a "how many Jews does it take to read a Torah portion" joke. It's ten BTW. 1 to read it and 9 to stand around correcting their pronunciation.
The second was that I imagined one of the reasons Avraham was prepared to sacrifice Yitzhak besides love and reverence for God may have had something to do with having to tell Yitzhak 50 times to take out the garbage. I may have been looking at my kid at this moment.
