Whenever I make a food with poppy seeds, I think of how a non-Jew reacted when I told them about challah and how I sometimes sprinkle poppy seeds on top. They were like, they would never eat poppy seeds because of their mind-altering qualities. There was a heavy implication that they thought people who eat poppy seeds are morally suspect.
