What the DNC should do immediately is make it a permanent rule that a convicted felon cannot be candidate for the party at any level as a shot across the RNC bow heading into their convention.

Absolutely not. Either the president gets full clearance, or the spooks are choosing the president (they have so many ways to fuck up someone's background check).

For the same reason a person who normally could never pass a security clearance may be president. The qualifications to be president are stated in the constitution and nowhere else, because we don't want the FBI and CIA gatekeeping the whitehouse, and we don't want crooked AGs and DAs disqualifying candidates.
