#PDXStorm

Winter storm update: well, the massive cold front that has moved into the Pacific Northwest is likely to turn deadly. Temperatures at the nearest Airport are 14°F. Winds are sustained at 22mph, with gusts to 35. Power is out for more than 150,000 Portland General Electric customers and we are approaching dusk now. The number of individual outages is massive, the map is virtually covered in red dots. Most areas have been out since 11am, it is 4pm now.

Personal: I am among the people going into the night without power. Indoor temperatures have dropped 13°. I'm wearing full outdoor clothing as I shelter in place, mostly in bed. No where else to go as the region is largely out of power, which is a more severe problem than the snow. I have a friend with a truck who has a generator and wood stove at his place in the country, he may pick me up on his way home from work, but it will be his last trip in or out of town for 2 days. Luck to us all.
