Antisemitic gaslighting is playing on infinite repeat
It is important to remember that many #Jews have dealt with #antisemitic gaslighting for years. It is isolating, traumatizing, and has pushed many of us out of friendships and activism circles. What is happening now has been going on for years, but now it has intensified and feels worse than ever.
And if a Jew tells you something is antisemitic, and your impulse is to search for some fringe Jewish source to “prove” they are wrong, don’t do it. Also don’t cite your “Jewish friends” as if that gives you authority to talk over us. Just don’t. #Antisemitism
@littlemiao source “Also don’t cite your “Jewish friends” as if that gives you authority to talk over us. Just don’t. #Antisemitism”
This has happened to me at least a half a dozen times since late last night.
The Fediverse has an antisemitism problem.
@TonyStark @littlemiao we’re seeing more and more how much so called progressives support antisemitism. I’ve seen so many voices I thought were rational but now see they are uninformed conspiracy theorists as long as the conspiracy involves the Jews. That people think they can justify murder based on seeing a few images in memes just doesn’t give me much hope.
@littlemiao @rob Can’t argue with anything you’ve said there. Misinformation/disinformation, a refusal to acknowledge wrongness once it’s been established that a person in question had information wrong, unsourced memes being presented incorrectly as fact- remember COVID, where lots of people spoke out about that?
Well, now it’s perfectly okay, as long as it’s something about driving all the Jews from Israel.
It’s certainly not what I expected my fall to be like.
@MariaHill The Baptists need all Jews to stay in Israel so their prophecy will come true. Baptists =Zionists with an agenda. @TonyStark @littlemiao @rob
@littlemiao @AlliFlowers No notes.
@littlemiao Pity they have such pull.
@AlliFlowers Pull on whom? Christians don’t dictate where Jews live, not in this century. It is awful that extremist Christians have such pull on US politics. But that is a separate issue.
People have been trying to hijack Jewish existence since Christianity began. We ignore that crap and live our lives despite it. Jewish self-determination has nothing to do with Christians no matter what Christians may pretend.
@littlemiao Other than my being expelled from Baptist Missionary School for being Jewish…but that’s another story. Or when we first moved to Ohio and the realtor only showed us one neighborhood because “that’s where all the Jews live.”….also another, but less interesting story.
Christians may not dictate where we live, but they all have pull on US politics. And there are more and more extremists every day. THAT is exactly what I’m talking about.
@AlliFlowers Thank you for sharing your experiences.
Since the original topic was the horrific fantasy of “driving all the Jews from Israel” in which many social media armchair commentators have indulged, I was confused.
@AlliFlowers I’m not sure what this comment has to do with anything. The Baptists and other Christians can spin whatever farkakte nonsense they want about Jews but that has nothing to do with us. Israeli Jews will live in Israel irregardless of what Christians want or don’t want.
