Gerrymandering even affects elections where it appears to not be involved. People living in gerrymandered districts where they know their votes won’t count in many elections are less likely to vote.

In highly gerrymandered states, parties often cannot develop a good bench of candidates because running for office seems like a waste of time. End it.

@TonyStark I think people also are less likely to contact their legislators and members of Congress too, if they think it won’t matter.

When you know you live in a purple state and the people elected to represent the state are solidly red, people seem to be believe its useless to let their representatives know what issues are important to them.

I still do it all anyway but gerrymandering is a great way to undermine good government.
