Gerrymandering even affects elections where it appears to not be involved. People living in gerrymandered districts where they know their votes won’t count in many elections are less likely to vote.
In highly gerrymandered states, parties often cannot develop a good bench of candidates because running for office seems like a waste of time. End it.
Republicans have ruled Wisconsin for a decade – but a court decision could change that |

@TonyStark I think people also are less likely to contact their legislators and members of Congress too, if they think it won’t matter.
When you know you live in a purple state and the people elected to represent the state are solidly red, people seem to be believe its useless to let their representatives know what issues are important to them.
I still do it all anyway but gerrymandering is a great way to undermine good government.
@ScottSummers I’m in a solid red state, and I still write them. @TonyStark @mentallyalex@beige.party
@TonyStark I don’t suppose you’d be willing to trade Fetterman for Tuberville?
Didn’t think so, but as my father used to say, you don’t ask, you don’t get. @ScottSummers @mentallyalex@beige.party
@TonyStark @mentallyalex @AlliFlowers @ScottSummers Fetterman doesn’t yell at you?
@mentallyalex @wndlb @AlliFlowers @ScottSummers I’m his body double. He needs me.
@TonyStark @mentallyalex @AlliFlowers @ScottSummers I’m fairly sure that I don’t believe that any more than I believe Trump’s BMI
@mentallyalex @AlliFlowers @ScottSummers I’m sorry. Honestly, I wish I could share.
We started a tiny organization group locally all the way back when Rick Santorum got elected. 🤮
There was nothing much before that and some offices didn’t even have a D running.
I’m not implying that’s easy to replicate. At all. I feel really awful for people stuck with Republicans. I try and do my best to help out.
