I may have to buy a Windows license key.

They do *NOT* make this easy...

Is anyone here a parent with children who do online learning?

If so, what platform does the school use? Does it work with Linux or require Windows?

EDIT: I want to make it clear, I'm asking because I want to know if a Linux computer is suitable for use, or if I need to install Windows on it. I don't control the school or its decisions in any way, nor are these my children and I can take action as a parent.

Follow

@emacsen They will all run under Windows, and most will run on a Chromebook. I’m unfamiliar with any that are optimized for Linux. @serge

Yeah usually google meet, teams or zoom.

There is big blue buttom which some institutions may use,

bigbluebutton.org/

Designed for teaching, can be self hosted and far better for privacy too

@zleap @AlliFlowers @emacsen @serge the NZOSS provides a locally hosted BigBlueButton instance for people to use here in Aotearoa. If anyone wants ongoing access, let me know. It's gratis, thanks to sponsored hosting from catalystcloud.nz ...
