A boy fights to stay alive in New Orleans during a brutal tropical storm in an excellent new graphic novel, "I Survived Hurricane Katrina, 2005." Katrina also hit my Gulf Coast town hard, and I write about its impact and the book @medium:

@janiceharayda Where do you live on the Gulf Coast? I have been angry at the media since Katrina, as they gave all the attention to NOLA and coastal MS was wiped out. My husband worked at one of the MS shipyards, and they were on generators for 6 months, but you never hear about that. I won’t even touch on the devastation we saw in coastal AL.

@AlliFlowers About 45 mins. east of Mobile on the so-called Eastern Shore. Agree that the devastation in Alabama is seriously overlooked. As I noted in my story, Katrina tore up a quarter-mile-long *concrete* pier near me.
