Do you regularly post on #Mastodon in different #languages? Do you (like me, too) often forget to set the post's language accordingly before publishing it?
Would you thus like the possibility (strictly #opt_in#optIn, of course) to force yourself to consciously select the language before you can publish?
What do you mean by that, @AlliFlowers? I'm not sure I understand.
Are you aware that all Mastodon posts (and many other Fediverse posts; see https://w3.org/TR/activitypub/#i18n-concerns) have in their metadata a content language indication? If this doesn't correspond to the actual language of the post's content, it's not very useful for filtering or for guiding automatic translations. So if I type (and post) in English, it should be set to `en`and if I type (and post) in German, it should be set to `de`.
@das_g Ah. That makes sense. I thought you might be one of the folks I’ve run into here who think it’s cool to Google translate their posts so it looks like they’re multi-lingual. (That drives me nuts.)
