My mom just called to ask me why in the hell the teachers’ union is holding its annual meeting in Florida.

I had to look it up, because that didn’t sound like the AFT, and it’s not. It’s the National Education Association.

While FL has deteriorated quickly, it has been an extremely hostile place to education and educators for years. It’s also wholly unsafe for pregnant people or LGBTQ people and that’s not new either . What was the NEA thinking?

@amaditalks @thepoliticalcat It’s not like FL *just* turned to the sh*t sandwich it is. The NEA has had a good two years to work on it. One of many reasons I resigned from the NEA long ago.
