I recently made the switch to iOS and while there are some annoying quirks, there are some things I really like:

- The ability to quickly extract an object or person from a photo and paste it into chat (or elsewhere)
- The ability to set a double and triple tap shortcut to do whatever you’d like (I have a double back tap open up a new draft in Drafts)

@AlliFlowers @TransitBiker The keyboard is a big annoyance. Switching to special characters is a pain even with hold and swipe and some characters can’t be typed. Inconsistent behaviour due to no back button - some apps you swipe up to leave a media preview, while others require you to swipe down. The inability to side load without jailbreaking.

@dx @TransitBiker I agree about the consistency, but that’s on app developers rather than the os.

@AlliFlowers @TransitBiker Except they could just have a button that does that. Or they could implement system wide gestures that mean certain things… there are absolutely decisions at the OS level that create this situation. After all, the problem doesn’t exist on android.

@AlliFlowers @TransitBiker Absolutely.I swore off Apple after a terrible customer service experience and because of its monopolistic App Store, but the privacy first approach (though still far from what I’d like, better than android/google) won me back over.
