@edutooters How many teachers do we need on the fediverse?

There are two separate issues here: "How many teachers do we need in our own social network?" and "Should any teachers be using a non-open social network?"

My answer to the second question is, "No!" We have study after study showing the damage that these social networks are doing to young people. The biggest problems at my school this year have been violence arising from Tik Tok challenges and conflicts arising from cyberbullying.

@scerruti @edutooters Ah, but if you’re drawing attention to the damage it does to young people, you’re no longer speaking of teachers, are you.

Teachers must use these sites so that they will recognize the good and bad and can help students if a cyber-bullying event takes place.

@AlliFlowers @edutooters Exactly, but I'm my head I was thinking about modeling behavior and having to say, "do what I say, not what I do." (More about me getting off Facebook, I guess.)
