@giascott Pronunciation is the final thing to master in another language. Keep pushing though!
@AlliFlowers I don't think it will be too difficult to get it to an understandable level. I grew up hearing German, and my grandfather had a strong German accent even when speaking English. I'm stuck shouting at the computer over the tv or others' conversations, so it's not going well on that front.
@giascott Headphones?
@AlliFlowers Microphones tend to pick up audio when your housemates are hard of hearing, talk too loud, etc. I just have to work around, that's all. I will NEVER get my mother to wear her hearing aids (she has prescribed ones) as she claims she hears just fine. (Sigh) Plus, if I'm wearing headphones, she seems to think it's a challenge to talk loud enough to get my attention.
Some things are just quirks you have to ignore as best you can.

@AlliFlowers It's not hard, though my husband's groaning at my horrible pronunciations is annoying! I'm more interested in being able to efficiently READ German than to speak it. In general, I do enjoy it, but the need for relative quiet makes it rough to go for anything resembling steady progress.
