And, know when to pivot a lesson when mid-session your minds says "Fuck, this is boring." 😁

@aus_teach @edmunds_t @edutooters YES! There is no point in doing something that isn’t working. That’s why we need to be so reflective about what we do, so we can sort of harness all the alternatives when we realise it is not going to plan.

And we need to have fun - and be seen to be having fun - when we are teaching. Often, our enthusiasm for the subject matter is contagious.

My header says "joyful learning". Youwould be surprised how often I get asked about that. When did we decide learning should not be fun .... but "efficient"

@aus_teach @jnyrose @edutooters

I don't know if I would be surprised. I often have to convince academics that "fun" is not the antithesis of "rigor."

@AlliFlowers @edmunds_t @aus_teach @edutooters I often warn my students that our fun is also going to be hard work sometimes!

@jnyrose @AlliFlowers @edmunds_t @edutooters
There is a fair amount of academic discourse in literature that discusses how educators interpret "fun".

@aus_teach @AlliFlowers @edmunds_t @edutooters that, and also how we define “engagement” are always fun conversations to have.

@aus_teach @AlliFlowers @edmunds_t @edutooters genuinely didn’t notice my use of “fun” there. I stand by it. Those kinds of conversations ARE fun.

@jnyrose @AlliFlowers @edmunds_t @edutooters
They are fun conversations. I taught for 20yrs. Student would ask "Will this be a fun lesson Sir." I would respond with "Fun is what you bring with you." 😇😁
