The other day, some colleagues were talking about religion, and someone said they were protestant. Since I'm in Germany, I inquired to them whether they were Lutheran:
"I don't know, I'm protestant".
Then I realized that in U.S. movies people always describe themselves as protestants, but not what kind. A quick google showed that the U.S. has quite the diversity of denominations. Is knowing about the diversity of christian denominations a nerd thing?
@Jey_snow I feel like having grown up as non-religious in a mid-sized city in an otherwise rural state in America, I’ve heard all of those words and more, but really couldn’t tell you what they mean?
@mhansen I think that, for a nonbeliever, just to know there are different kinds is more than enough. Like, I couldn't tell you the difference from a GM or a Volkswagen, but I'm aware they're somehow different cars 😅
@Jey_snow @mhansen #Trump Strictly my opinion, what non-religious people need to know about #Christianity in the USA is that a portion of it, I would identify some evangelicals, have broken bad as the phrase goes. Not only have they forgotten the teachings of Jesus to ❤️ one another, but they are actively attempting to institute a Christian theocracy and embracing the Devil incarnate, Little Donny to tear down the Nation for them to accomplish this goal. 🤬
