Bicycled to the drugstore, vax in each arm (COVID-19 - new formulation, Moderna), flu, snagged 10 lbs or so of used coffee grounds for the garden, bicycled back uphill (both ways 🤪). Take that, fascists. #BikeTooter

well, really the first one wasn't so bad. It was the second dose that got me. Shivers, shaking, fever, sweats, headache..... icky icky icky

well we could always dig up the horror stories of shingles infections in the eyes, mouth, genital area, etc etc etc to scare you into it.

@MsMerope @quantumjoyce @ai6yr You do NOT want shingles even in non-scary areas. I got shingles on my side in my late 30s, and it was horribly painful and itchy at the same time. The Shingrix vax is worth it.

Have not gotten the shingles vax yet. Doc has offered it a couple times though. Kinda scared. Kinda sweep under the rug. I’ve had a small case of it and was pretty bad. Can I still get it?? My sister got the vax and said was horrible……

@jberry @joycebell @MsMerope @quantumjoyce @ai6yr I got shingles and it felt like I'd been shot, like I had a hole thru my chest (because of the nerves involved). It was painful wearing clothes for over a month. My dad got it in his neck and it spread over into his face and eye, with some permanent damage. I got the vax as soon as I was eligible! It's a doozy but it is WAY BETTER than shingles!

First dose kicked my butt (flu-like symptoms for 2 days) - not looking forward to the second dose.

BUT.

Did you know it also creates a ~20% reduction in all-cause dementia?

Shingles? No thanks. Dementia? Also no thanks. I can handle feeling crappy for a few days.

@grajohnt I had no problem with the first dose. Threw up for 24 hours after the second dose, and I never even barfed during chemo!
