I hate being pedantic but why do all the news reports about wildfires seem to use the well known measurement of football pitches. Did I waste time learning square metres, kilometres or even sq miles? Also I've heard 'an area of 5km' quoted on news reports. Isn't it 5 sq km or a length of 5km? Sorry, I'll shut up now.
@kibcol1049 That use of measurements with the wrong number of dimensions always gets me. The moon is the size of Australia - how? Surface area? Footprint?
