Resident Alien is a charming show available on Netflix. It's like Northern Exposure meets 3rd Rock from the Sun. Alan Tudyk is very funny as an alien sent to destroy Earth but decides humans are worth saving. It can be pretty silly at points, but with a depth and warmth that keeps the show grounded.

If you're the type to not want to watch a show because it might get canceled abruptly, Resident Alien has a complete arc across four seasons with an especially satisfying ending.
