We're at the "Papers, please" stage. This in Chicago with a US citizen. Remember, U.S. citizens are not required to carry or present proof of citizenship or identity to immigration agents when they are within the US. You have the right to remain silent.

That is besides the point, because, as @denisedwheeler.bsky.social wrote, #US citizens are NOT required to carry or present proof of citizenship or identity to immigration agents.
I carry my US passport card in my wallet, but I will not present it easily if/when stopped by #ICE.
