First vaccines caused autism, now Tylenol.
It couldn't be that in the last 100 years we've been ingesting carbon smoke, pesticides, plastics, preservatives, dyes, lead, etc,etc,etc... And that perhaps that has changed human physiology?

@mike Or autism has always been around it was just called other things or not diagnosed at all. Further, given it is known there is a strong genetic element to autism, we're now favouring it. Being on the spectrum is not unusual among engineers which is now a high value profession. I would bet autism rates in Silicon Valley are higher than other areas.
