I did just find this, from 1950 to 2005, 27 percent of tornadoes in the United States were nocturnal, yet 39 percent of tornado fatalities and 42 percent of killer tornado events occurred at night.

Good point about when tornadoes hit places like high schools etc. that nighttime tornadoes are better than daytime ones though for sure.
@GreenFire We had two a few years ago, one week apart. Both overnight. The first one took our roof. My mother was visiting at the time and slept right through it. Second one destroyed a local high school. Thank the gods it was at night.

I just tried to see if we suffer from more overnight or daytime tornadoes, but wasn't able to find that quickly as everything just focused on how much more deadly the overnight ones are.
