The fediverse is my last stop on the social media trail.

And right now I'm teetering on packing it in. Twitter was shit but it was a better experience as a Jew.

This place is a deluge of hot garbage and so was twitter. But twitter had hundreds of thousands of Jews. Including our public intellectuals. Jews from all walks of life. Jews from many denominations. Jews from all over the world.

What does the fediverse offer in comparison? Mostly just the game of 'out the antisemite' which is boring AF.

@dukepaaron

I just block them all one by one. I want the interaction with the greater whole to use social media for the realtime news/events. The rampant Fediverse antisemitism is upsetting, though Twitter is a sewer owned, run, and directed by an antisemtitic fascist piece of shit, so leaving there has been a no brainer, no matter how many Jewish "Intellectuals" have decided to stay behind to let Musk profit off their content. It was an remains the easiest call of my online life.

@judah @dukepaaron

Same. Heavy with the blocks. And I have my own preemptive criteria.

@Bam @judah blocking everyone without replacing then with more awesome people is not a great social media experience either, for me.

@AlliFlowers @dukepaaron @judah

Yup. Plenty of folks around who aren’t assholes. I’d much rather read their content.

@dukepaaron @AlliFlowers @judah

🤷‍♂️

Time to hit federated and find more people to follow I guess.

@Bam @AlliFlowers @judah I might be looking for a more niche experience that fediverse can't deliver on.

My last twitter account was primarily Jewish themed and I mostly followed Jewish accounts and I enjoyed it immensely. I've been trying to recreate it somewhat here and there just aren't the numbers.

I'm mostly uninterested in a more general focus tbh. I could just talk to people around me for that irl. I don't need to go on the internet for that.

But where I live and work I only really know a lot of Jews from shul. And I can't shit talk with them. I'm the last Jew standing at work. We had about 5 or 6 at one point. And in my non shul social circle there's two of us. 🤷‍♂️

@dukepaaron @AlliFlowers @judah

Sadly, he appears to only post on the bad place. Unfortunately, not on threads and federated.

@dukepaaron @AlliFlowers @Bam @judah Just to add to this thread, I completely understand where dukepaaron is coming from with regard to Twitter, and I also completely understand everyone who left because Elon and the people he platforms. I left for the same reasons. Well, that, and he fired the entire accessibility team. I also agree with dukepaaron that the fediverse is absolute hot garbage when it comes to antisemitism, and the constant need to block, especially people who used to be awesome until they took the damn mask off, has me feeling all kinds of not pleasant feelings. Fortunately there's bird.makeup, which lets us bring over the Twitter accounts we used to love to read, and while we can't do a massive Jewport with it, we can use it to make our home timelines a bit more bearable. With all of that said though, the fediverse is my last social media stop. If things get to a point where they're intolerable here despite mitigation steps, I'm out.

@acarson @dukepaaron @AlliFlowers @judah

I’d add that I like that I can get threads follows here too. And I know that’s a hot button issue.
