The head of Israel's Metula Council is calling to send Gazans to refugee camps & make Gaza 'resemble Auschwitz.’

Netanyahu invoked Amalek to launch the destruction of Gaza & is boasting about blocking a Palestinian state.

1.9 million Gazans are displaced, 20,000 are dead, IDF is snipering Christians in church, bull dozing refugees in tents, bombing hospitals, & killing Palestinians in the West Bank.

I just don’t get how anyone can see all this atrocity & conclude the answer is More war.😓

@QasimRashid What is your answer then? None of us believe that more war would be good, but we’re all waiting for someone to recommend an action rather than an inaction.

@AlliFlowers I’m sorry this is such a strange question because I and many human rights activists have answered this repeatedly.
1. Unconditional release of all hostages.
2. Prosecution of all war crimes by Hamas and by IDF
3. Remove all illegal settlements in Occupied Palestine, Remove military occupation of Palestine, Stop the illegal Gaza blockade, Return to int’l agreed upon 1967 borders

Also throwing our hands up and saying “it’s complicated so let’s mass murder” ain’t it

@QasimRashid How do you propose getting it done? How are you going to get the criminals to The Hague for prosecution? (Cause if there’s a way, we need to get Putin there, too.) Do you truly believe Hamas will just release the hostages?

@AlliFlowers you keep bringing up Hamas. No one here is defending Hamas. And no one here is giving Hamas $4B/year in military aid. The person funding Hamas is Netanyahu: timesofisrael.com/for-years-ne

After the May 2021 ceasefire between Hamas & Israel, why didn’t Israel remove its illegal settlements & military occupation? Why did it only kill more Palestinians? And why avoid holding Israel accountable?

@QasimRashid It’s just that I’m focusing on the present, not what has happened over the thousands of years of past history. Start with what happens NOW. TODAY.

@AlliFlowers @QasimRashid I'm not sure your concept of time is accurate Flowers, Netanyahu hasn't been in power for thousands of years, but is in power NOW, TODAY.

@pewnack So why do you want to base a response on his actions alone? Is he holding a private war with himself? @QasimRashid

@AlliFlowers @QasimRashid you seem to be interested in only applying historical policy context to Hamas and not to Netanyahu. You ask an interesting question. Many observe that drawing out the war is in Netanyahu's interest, since if and when it ends he'll have to face up to the security disaster that was the first Hamas attack AND those corruption cases. He'll be toast if the war ends.

@pewnack I’m good with the end of Netanyahu. Overlooking intelligence is not the same thing as killing, torturing, and capturing innocent civilians. I want them both to face justice. I simply ask how you propose to accomplish that. @QasimRashid

@AlliFlowers @QasimRashid You ask me? You ask me how to solve a problem the UN (where the US has veto power in the security council) has been unable to solve since the illegal occupation of Palestine?

You ask me to solve something that the Oslo peace accords couldn't solve while Netanyahu which vocally wrecked and whom many personally blame for the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin?

Are you high?

@pewnack I ask everyone who comes along demanding instant peace and offering solutions like “returning the hostages,” “sending Bibi to The Hague,” and “getting rid of illegal settlers.” Yes. We all want that. But unless you have a recommendation as to HOW, just STFU already. @QasimRashid

@AlliFlowers @QasimRashid oohh, so if I can't personally fix the Israel/Palestine conflict, I can't criticise either side for their war crimes and that they should be held responsible?

I'm glad I know where you stand. If murderers can't be held to account, it's ok for them to keep on doing murders. Got it, good one. 👍

@QasimRashid

Some nut in an old agricultural province makes a nutty comment, and you immediately put it around #Israel's neck as an albatross, as if it is the official government policy enunciated by the Head of State?

Nice job riling people up with propaganda 🙄

@pewnack @AlliFlowers

@rameshgupta @QasimRashid @pewnack @AlliFlowers

After the May 2021 ceasefire between Hamas & Israel, why didn’t Israel remove its illegal settlements & military occupation?

--

Admittedly, I know nothing about anything. But are the settlements illegal? Or, is that under contention?

@nicholas_saunders @rameshgupta @QasimRashid @AlliFlowers as I understand it, the settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory of the West Bank are illegal under international law.

And no the Israeli Govt did not remove them. Under Netanyahu their construction has only increased with the promise of that to continue, thus further making all of this shitshow worse.

@nicholas_saunders @rameshgupta @QasimRashid @AlliFlowers sorry do you mean that the settlements being illegal and their removal is enforced?

@pewnack @rameshgupta @QasimRashid @AlliFlowers

I know nothing about this, but:

"..2004 advisory ruling by the International Court of Justice concluded that the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, remain Israeli-occupied territory.[13]"

Wikipedia, took me about ten seconds. The veracity of that statement is unknown to me.

That being said, doesn't sound illegal.

@pewnack @rameshgupta @QasimRashid @AlliFlowers

"In February 2023, the new Israeli government under Benjamin Netanyahu approved the legalization of nine illegal settler outposts in the West Bank.[59] "

Well, there ya go, Wikipedia says that they're illegal.

@nicholas_saunders @rameshgupta @QasimRashid @AlliFlowers Israeli occupied territory means Israel has responsibility for much of what goes on there, it doesn't mean settling the land or the occupation is legal.

@pewnack @rameshgupta @QasimRashid @AlliFlowers

Which is why I have previously written:

"Well, there ya go, Wikipedia says that they're illegal."

And gave further details in that post.

@pewnack @rameshgupta @QasimRashid @AlliFlowers

sorry do you mean that the settlements being illegal and their removal is enforced?

--

Curious court that lacks any enforcement.

No, not a lawyer, nor do I play one on Mastodon or anywhere else.

@nicholas_saunders @rameshgupta @QasimRashid @AlliFlowers Netanyahu doesn't want a two state solution, he has stated that clearly. Hence his efforts to destabilise and delegitmise the Palestinian Authority in favour of Hamas, because Hamas is the enemy he has always wanted.

@AlliFlowers @QasimRashid @pewnack It is most definitely not ok, but there is very little that can be done without Israel’s explicit agreement. The first goal is to stop the killing on both sides. A U.N. peacekeeping force might be able to do this. Realistically, Israel will not agree if it means Hamas survives in any way, shape or form. That is today’s political reality.

@AlliFlowers @pewnack @QasimRashid May I ask you how you believe Israel will respond to its own practices of torture, murder and imprisonment of innocent Palestinian civilians - including hundreds of children? We have seen how Israel deals with this in the past - through denial, deflection, lies & laughable "enquiries" - so what can we expect from Israel regarding the overt genocide they are practicing in Gaza TODAY?
