Is being Jewish a personal choice, or something you’re born into, like a nationality? Genuine question. I don’t know, and am curious.

@AnOldGuy Loaded question. Judaism is both a religion and a culture. You can convert to Judaism, but you are also born into it. The culture and the religion differ wildly.

@AnOldGuy Oh, I understand that. It just is. You may not be able to look at someone and tell they’re Jewish, but DNA will tell you they’re Ashkenazi. Even if they’re not religious.

@AnOldGuy Religion is always a choice. People typically just adopt the religion of their parents. Many throw off religion completely as they get older.
