One of the things I appreciate most about using ASL is that it is genderless.

@AlliFlowers Well, there is no official sign for "gender" (except for finger-spelling). There's also no official sign for Mr., Ms. (finger spelling is used where specificity is req'd). - but there is a sign for Man, Woman, Girl, Boy.. and they are all different. So genders are present in ASL.

Having said that, pronouns have no gender and most often spatial indexing is used instead in my experience.

@jann I was mostly aiming at pronouns. And unlike French or German, inanimate objects don’t have gender.
