Children Are:
-Going to school 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
-Doing 2+ hours after school extracurriculars.
- Doing 2+ hours of homework after they get home.
- Doing hours of weekend sports and activities.
-Not getting paid for any of it.
-Actively being taught that it is normal to work a 60+ hour work week from elementary school.
@RickiTarr @cautionarytale@mastodon.world Extracurriculars and weekend activities are not “work,” and they don’t have to do them. Two hours of homework is a myth.
@RickiTarr @cautionarytale@mastodon.world Most of my former colleagues (and me) gave up on assigning homework a long time ago. Some districts have even restricted it except for AP classes.
@AlliFlowers @cautionarytale I appreciate that, good teachers so unappreciated.
