Reminder: the only official way to force a member of the House of Representatives out is to expel them. It requires a 2/3 majority. The GOP has a tiny majority. Do not expect them to take this action. Usually when a member is a drag on the party, leaders will pressure them privately to resign. But. The GOP has a tiny majority & Santos’s seat could easily go back to a Democrat. Do not count on them to take this action. +

And, even if by some twist of fate, Santos was charged & convicted & given jail time in the two years of his term for any of the many alleged campaign finance violations, he could stay in Congress. It’s happened before (admittedly not recently) and the only way to _force_ the issue is expulsion and, well, see previous toot.
