I don't know how everybody else is doing it here, but my basic approach to finding new people to follow works like this:

When I favorite (star) a post, I click on the profile and follow them if their feed looks interesting. Click to see who they follow, check and follow a few that look promising.

Every day, my feed gets more interesting, entertaining, and informative.
