Dreams of Sunflower Seeds
I watched this little house finch (Haemorhous mexicanus) a couple of days ago. She perched in the same spot for ages, facing me and Charlie with one eye half-open—perhaps keeping quiet tabs on us. Aside from that, she looked thoroughly stuffed and seemed to be drifting into a post-snack nap.

@jeffowski Well, in those days there were no blatant slave owners (it was well-hidden) and sex was not something we talked about.
Racism was fading (we thought) and women were gaining ground in the world. It was (apparently) awesome.
