I watched this little house finch (Haemorhous mexicanus) a couple of days ago. She perched in the same spot for ages, facing me and Charlie with one eye half-open—perhaps keeping quiet tabs on us. Aside from that, she looked thoroughly stuffed and seemed to be drifting into a post-snack nap.
