Beak Full of Breakfast

This is a detailed shot of a blue jay (Cyanocitta cristata) who was around yesterday. The jay is gathering peanuts, you can see two here, one in its mouth and one held in the end of its beak. The jay looks lit it recently went through a molt and its head feathers are growing back.

"The oldest known wild, banded Blue Jay was at least 26 years, 11 months old when it was found dead after being caught in fishing gear. It had been banded in the Newfoundland/Labrador/St. Pierre et Miquelon area in 1989 and was found there in 2016."

@Swede1952 Mom liked to tell the story of the raven on Hurricane Ridge that was faced with the difficult task of trying to carry two graham crackers that we gave it. After much consternation, it managed to get one lengthwise and on crosswise in its beak and flew off to chow down.
