US pol: secret pardons
What kind of law do we need to pass so pardons must be made public? The idea that people are creeping around with secret pardons like trap cards is absurd.

They need to be published BEFORE the election, I have some qualms about that, as there have been unpopular pardons that were just, but it turns out that far far to many are just patronage, payback, favors for the well to do. They publicize the "touching stories" as cover for the rest of it... and the supreme court claimed the death penalty was OK because "well they COULD get a pardon"

@yoused @futurebird Pardons are theoretically a way for the executive to make up for misjustices issued by the courts, so having the courts involved in the pardoning process would be bad.
Publishing pardons, yeah; if the executive gives a pardon, they need to say that they did it at that time.
