Excellent piece on the Michael Oher story. "White savior syndrome" is very strong in RW Evangelical circles, which describes the Tuohy family. When this movie came out I was writing for CCM magazines, and one of my editors asked me to do a story on the film, which I declined. The story they wanted was one about how a rich white Christian family saved a troubled black kid and wouldn't that just solve all of our problems if more rich, white Christian families did the same?

I am just sick of being told we have to compromise when it comes to:
- Climate change
- Feeding children in poverty.
- Protecting the sick from bankruptcy.
- Investing in adult education for a skilled workforce.
- Increasing the value of labour so it returns more than the value of risk taking.

While trillions in subsidies are signed to Halliburton etc for some shareholder payday.

This is not the compromise I am interested in.

Please don't lump me in with "liberals".
