#Mastodon I can’t be a good Mastodonian, apologies. I wake up in the morning, see 600 new posts and start to look at all of them, come to a realization and then just swoop to the top. So I’m sure to be missing good posts, but with scrolling text, it just can’t be helped unless I want to live on the app which I won’t. So that’s why I likely did not boost or reply to your great posts. 😕
When Governor Orvil Farbus refused to allow nine Little Rock black students to enroll in Little Rock high school in 1957, Louis Armstrong put his career on the line to speak out very publicly against racial injustice. Armstrong said:

Motion to change all instances of "food desert" to food apartheid because it speaks to the systems-level barriers communities face when accessing food.
Diverse communities are not barren wastelands. They are full of culture and lives that matter.

Ron DeSantis dogged by protesters at Iowa State Fair
Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds urged the demonstrators who interrupted her one-on-one interview with DeSantis to be "Iowa nice."
You can be poor, you can be disappointed, you can be dissatisfied with the government.
Whatever you are angry about, it is not a solution to vote fascist! We have been fighting for freedom and respect for minorities for decades. We all know what fascism leads to.
Have respect and the morals to respect our basic law! There are so many ways to show your protest. Trust your gut feeling and never be misled by populist-fascist people. Thank you!
As a California native I know what you mean about plants struggling and having to hide from the burn. I now live in the midwest and don't have that issue, but I know the pain well! Hopefully temps start to fall for you soon so you can take more time to enjoy what you're growing!
During today’s family viewing of the excellent #STNG episode “Yesterday’s Enterprise,” the 4yo asked mid-battle, “why don’t they have seatbelts?” Good question little one. Good question.
RUSSIAN GROUNDING
Russian media say that the Kremlin regime is thinking of closing some or even all Moscow airports "for several weeks with subsequent prolongation" due to the terrorist threat (drones and, allegedly, in the short term, the possibility of strikes by long-range missiles from Sumy region, Ukraine).
Reportedly, this issue seems to be very painful for the Presidential Administration, FSB and the Russian government.

With the half the season gone, I know I want to photograph my garden as much as possible to carry me through the long winter months when there are no bumblebees or butterflies to be spied from the kitchen window. I love living in a place with seasons, but fresh roses, cosmos, dahlias, zinnias, and other floriferous joys are sorely missed when the cooler weather starts to drag on.
So here's a little reminder to myself and anyone else out there this week that if you have a chance to take a moment to stop and smell the roses, take it. And maybe take a photo or five, too.

Does anyone yet live who remembers when people wanted to work at Home Depot because they hired pros who knew how to build, plumb, and wire? When you could ask someone in an orange apron a question and they offered good advice. When the employees got stock options? When you could return anything for any reason without a receipt?
Now that the local hardware stores are gone, the competition is defeated, none of those things are true.
This is the nature of capitalism.
