And oh, you think you're not responsible for the shutdown because you've been voting for the funding measures?

Wrong.

You're a Republican. You voted for Kevin McCarthy for Speaker. You caucus with the Republicans.

As long as you're part of the GOP, you're part of the problem.

New York is having terrible flooding.

FEMA won't help - because of the federal government shutdown caused by House Republicans.

So, thanks to...
- George Santos
- Mike Lawler
- Andrew Garbarino
- Nick LaLota
- Anthony D'Esposito
- Nicole Malliotakis

... for screwing us over.

Good morning. 🌞

It's hard to tell the weekends from the weekdays. Except that the neighbor's truck is still in the driveway. When I worked, that was usually the case as well because I often worked 20 days in a row.

At 6:20, the Appalachian Trail passed a small peninsula thrust into an enormous expanse of water. Along the eastern edge, a string of about a dozen aging wooden cabins slumbered beneath giant pines of even greater antiquity along a gravel shore.

From an old wooden chair on my screened front porch, I watched loons drifting upon quiet waters fading into a deepening twilight. When darkness fell like a theatrical curtain ending the show, I lit a candle on an old table inside and began last night's journal entry. Usually, I must write sprawled out on the hardwood floor of a shelter. This was better.

After dinner, I lay back on my bunk and listened to the cries of the loons floating over the lake, accompanied by the mournful song

@mimsical Issues I see with AI :
Job loss due to the economic straight jacket, Capitalism. Loss of skills combined with increased dependence on automation. Increased social dysfunction. The where humans wholesale are allowed to pursue their potential without economic jeopardy, will have trouble coming to fruition because such a system requires a common view, can’t tolerate corruption, and man, are humans flawed, selfish, and corrupt when opportunity beckons. 🤔

This week I wrote about what I think will be the unavoidability of using generative AI in both our work and, someday, personal lives.

For this simple reason: It really can make people more productive.

That creates a kind of communications arms race where the rest of us have to participate, or else risk drowning in the output of others.

Maybe I'm wrong. But here it is at length, and a brief thread on the subject.
