@rchusid @NSBooklady2 that’s why I wondered if a new name was in the works. Will Step2 be to call it X? Anyhow my guess is that most people consider this just another blunder with the Brand. “Hey I’ve been Xing today!” 🤔

@NSBooklady2 @Huntn00 If starting from scratch could argue over whether Twitter is the best name, but now it has a strong brand identity and it is foolish to give it up--especially for something with such little meaning as X.

@NSBooklady2 @rchusid sorry no offense, I bet you don’t twitter. :) The verbs like twittering and cackling were sometimes applied in literature in a sexiest way, and this is one of the things I did not like about it.

@Huntn00 @rchusid Hey, what's your problem with little old ladies .. like me? 😀Seriously though, the name referred to 140 character messages going back and forth – like birds tweeting

@GatekeepKen America, funding the world while we tell our own people HELL NO you can’t have free college, while we are sinking into debt we’ll never be able to pay back, currently $32B. Not only that the Congress had been robbing Medicare since they day it was created. They will tell you that has to go too, then standby for the meltdown unless the climate gets us first. 😳

#TransJoy is seeing yourself in the mirror and being unable to stop yourself from smiling

@rchusid Although I never participated in , actually hated the name as in picturing little old ladies twittering, the bird was a much friendlier icon than a cold steal X as if The Empire headed by Palpatine just disbanded The Senate. 😳

The rebranding of Twitter makes no sense. My guess is that Musk was once traumatized by a movie.

DEADLY PARKS!

Heat-related causes have killed more people in the nation's national parks so far in 2023 than in a typical entire year, and the month that's usually the deadliest hasn't arrived yet.

It seems like the right hates LGBT people, and especially trans people, but that's masking a deeper truth:

They are terrified of us

If it's possible to question and break free from the most "basic" and "obvious" assumptions about gender and sexuality that our society is implicitly structured around, what other assumptions are wrong?

We are the vanguard of a better society, which is why they are fighting to put us down. And they wouldn't be fighting so hard unless we had a chance of winning...

@KimPerales Meanwhile in the Great State of facing an epic heat wave, the Head GOP genius and humanitarian, Gov Abbott passed a law rescinding local ordinances mandating water breaks for workers exposed to the heat. Coincidentally, days later, a worker died of heat stroke. ! The law has not yet gone into effect, but heat is the issue, and with idiots in charge, it can only turn out badly, regardless of what BS business excuse they blurt out. 🤔

it's 2023 in America & a Congressman has to endanger his health to bring attention to a basic human right's issue. OSHA hasn't set a rule for workplace heat protection requirements bc corporate leaders are against them: Democrat Rep Greg Casar is doing an "all-day hunger & thirst strike" & vigil on the Capitol steps to push for a national standard to prevent heat-related illness, deaths on construction sites. #UnionStrong #CorporateGreed texasstandard.org/stories/greg

@nedhamson How much of recycling in general is a scam? My neighborhood in the Houston suburbs has electronic recycling twice a month. I can see some things, like computer parts recycled, and I can easily imagine things like wires being tossed in the landfill after. I think we already know that plastic recycling as a standard is a scam. I wonder how far the scam extends? Sure, I will continue to seperate recyclables, but wonder how much Fool’d Ya is going on. 🤔

OPINION
This Is the End of the U.S.-Israel ‘Special Relationship’

UNSHARED VALUES
The ultra-rightwing Netanyahu government can no longer claim special status as the Mideast’s only democracy–and Americans share the blame.

David Rothkopf
Updated Jul. 24, 2023 9:40PM EDT / Published Jul. 24, 2023 1:01PM EDT

America’s special relationship with Israel has, for the foreseeable future, come to an end.

Many will deny this. Many will hope it is not so. But the damage that has been done cannot be easily undone. A relationship built on shared values cannot be easily restored once it is clear those values are no longer shared.

For years, Israel made the case that it was America’s essential ally in the Middle East because it was the only state in the region that was a democracy—not a theocracy or an autocracy like all its neighbors.

That is no longer the case.
