@shonin@mastodon.world I’d like to see Mastodon include a variety of “likes” besides the star including a disagree icon as seen in some forums. I tend to view boosts as “agreement” and “star” as like. But this is admittedly tricky at times, as to what you are agreeing with, the author vs his/her target. 🙂 I’d like a quick way to signal disagreement without spreading disinformation when it occurs, which so far I admit to seeing little if any, but I don’t actually know who my instance has blocked. 🤔

#CorpseFlower In the Encinitas botanical garden this plant blooms about every three years and smells like rotting flesh. Short lived bloom is happening now.

Holy crap. Take a look at all the personal data that “may" be collected by Threads, Meta’s upcoming new Twitter clone.

Very on-brand, and a privacy nightmare.

@Nonog This is sad. As a child (1964ish) I had read and was impressed with this publication. It was like taking an adventure. As I recall, an adult friend of the family actually recommended me for membership and I remained a subscriber for a couple of decades. Changing times. 😔

@samlitzinger I grew up oblivious to the Tulsa Massacre. Viewing the Watchmen Series on HBO (2019) portraying a race battle in Tulsa where aircraft bombed a prosperous black neighborhood, my initial thought was “this is a little over the top”. I looked it up and there it was. 😳 This topic, would be a banned book that the anti-woke crowd would burn as too uncomfortable to be reminded of or expose their children to. Ironic that the anti-woke are big incorrigible children themselves.

Good morning! Today I woke up early + was motivated to get a good walk in before the heat ramped up. That seemed to annoy the local blue jays, who believe that they rule this land + I'm only here to feed them. The red-shouldered hawk who lives in our woods also decided to join in yelling at me. Or maybe it was yelling at the jays.

Little do they know that their efforts to discourage me has only strengthened my resolve to get out early tomorrow.

Wishing everyone a day of contentment.

"Unhinged from judicial standards, the court now roves through the policy landscape, overturning decades of law and reordering Americans’ lives and institutions. It upends women’s health, revamps college admissions, snatches student aid from millions and redefines public accommodations (allowing egregious discrimination)."

In coming months, much progress we made with Decentralized Social Media (DSM) will be put on hold while millions still yearning for a new Twitter will flock to Meta's latest fail in-waiting. If they'd just read up on the fediverse, they'd realize we almost have a better Twitter, SO STOP THRASHING!

"In aggrandizing power, the court illegitimately dominates policymaking, undermining democracy to an extent we have not seen in nearly 100 years. …

One telltale sign that the justices have become partisan politicians: their refusal to adopt mandatory ethics rules, which destroys the essence of judicial impartiality that is the root of their legitimacy."

Trump, taking shots at Hillary Clinton in 2016, was predictive of himself in 2023. "We could very well have a sitting President under federal indictment."
