I separate the New Deal as a moment where the Tycoons were pushed back as a function of the Govt becoming more labor centric, by virtue of people voting in its favor, but since then the Capitalists have been regaining more and more advantage ever since.

Once EV trucks start displacing internal combustion truck sales at the same scale as EVs are in relation to ICEVs the USA is going to really be heading towards a cleaner future.

The 1940ish New Deal was a big step in the right direction for Labor against tycoons, as a consequence, WWII put the US in a position of advantage, but ever since the Capitalists have been pushing us backwards hoarding wealth.

IMO, while not a Dem, they are closer to the mark than the GOP, who has broken bad.

For this reason, social progress is always an evolutionary process that settles according to the maturity and general culture of a society. Revolutions that are carried out in a society too soon, see history, are always betrayed and corrupted, they have never been stable for more than a season by the use of oppressive methods.

This. Honestly, while I find tankies to be really, REALLY problematic, at least some of them *can* lay claim to the "in theory it was good, in practice it became a genocidal, imperialistic hellscape" defense.
The US does NOT have that defense. The only somewhat partial defense it has is that people have fought it and undermined it all the way to earn the few freedoms we have before being either coopted or killed or both.

I’m making no excuses for how it went, in another 70 years it was dealt with, kind of, but not totally. That legacy lives on today. But the ideals stated were excellent, they just were not followed. The 50-60s was another leap forward, but now we seem to be sliding backwards. 😬

Some preach democracy, anarchy, war lords, socialism, communism, capitalism. My premise is the system chosen is worthless if the ideals upon which it is founded is a sham, and corruption destroys all systems. The USA was founded on excellent ideals, but we see today in some quarters, those ideals are being abandoned for personal gain, the perception of gain, and political power.
