@MarkRNay@ravenation.club @Lizette603_23 @GottaLaff “radically reform the news”
This is problematic, as 1A guarantees freedom of the press. The intent is that the press should be able to report on the government without repercussions. Ultimately it means that the press – private business – can publish whatever the fuck they want to, to advance their agenda, and not publish (suppress) stuff that they do not want to.

How can we safely reform that?

@yoused @MarkRNay @Lizette603_23 @GottaLaff
I conceive of a requirement that, if you claim to be publishing news, you must be able to verify the facts you report; otherwise, you must tag your reporting as "opinion". In other words, a "news" outlet ought not be permitted to broadcast, as fact, things they know to be false.
How that would work? Got me...

@cturnbow @MarkRNay@ravenation.club @Lizette603_23 @GottaLaff I am thinking some sort of strategy that was used in a very different way. Allow citizens to “prosecute” media outlets for dangerous content. The citizens would not be required to demonstrate standing (“I was harmed”) or even falsehood, merely that the content is potentially dangerous. It would be a tricky needle to thread.
